Even though the role of a doula overlaps with that of loved ones, doctors, nurses, and midwives, it is our unique training that focuses on physical comfort measures and ways to enhance labor progress, as well as our continuous and focused support that set us apart in the birthing process. The presence of a doula can help reduce stress and fear, make people feel safe and less anxious, and guide and reassure partners.

Having a doula during a cesarean can still be very beneficial. Please note that most hospitals will only allow one person in the OR. If you have a partner supporting you with your cesarean, we will be in the wings ready to step in when your partner steps out to be with baby. |

*We believe everyone should have access to trained and full support through labor and delivery! We have a sliding scale available--please inquire. 25% of ALL fees collected (and anything above that!) goes directly into our grant fund. This fund allows us to attend births of incarcerated women and others who would not normally have access to birth doula services.
